7th Dr's appointment

Wow, I am behind. Our 7th Dr.'s appointment was April 15th and then our 8th was April 28th and since it has been so long, I'll just hit the high points. Dan's parents and sister got to come to our 6th Dr's appointment and see her for the first time in the ultrasound. I think they all enjoyed that. It was fun to share that experience with them.

These past two appointments were pretty normal and everything looks great. She is right on track still and her heart beat has stayed in the 130's the past couple weeks. I think over all I have gained 18 pounds (the last two appointments I have not eaten before we went to the Dr.'s so I guess that means that the last time I ate about a 1 1/2 lbs. of food. That is kinda gross if you think about it, I have never thought about how much food weighs. All in all we are doing great. We have our next appointment on May 12th and then start going every week, so I'll have to get better at posting then. Oh, we have had two more ultrasounds recently and the last appointment my Dad got to go, so he got to see her again, she is still a girl, so Dan is still relieved. We still have a ton of pink around!!! It was nice to have my Dad go, he even drove us over there and treated us to dinner, it was really nice quality time to spend with the grandpa to be. He is getting excited. Sometimes I think he is more nervous than Julie and I are, does he know something we don't know???

This Past Weekend - Full of Fun!!

This past weekend was full of fun!!! I had another test on Saturday, Construction Documents and Services, but now I only have 2 tests left, now, one on April 24th and one May 2nd, loads of fun. Then we'll see how I did and don't you all worry we will let you know!!! Hopefully it is all celebrations, but we'll just have to wait and see.

After the test I went and saw an old friend, his wife and their new baby girl. They are an adorable family and look like they have settled into being parents wonderfully. She seems to be a very good baby too! I'll post a picture if they don't mind.

Sunday was full of fun, real fun!! My mom and I stayed at Julie's Sat. night, slumber party!!!! Then relaxed and hung out on Sunday and Sunday afternoon we went to Julie's baby shower. Here are a few pictures from her shower. Her friends threw it for her, they did such a splendid job, tons of great food, tons of gifts, and tons of fun, laughing, giggling, the things girls do best!! I am so glad we all got to go. She is a bit ahead of schedule this week as of yesterday, so we'll see what the doctor says Friday, then I'll keep you posted, they are either having a big baby boy or an early baby boy. I know she just wants to keep me in suspense and have to wait for our baby. As long as we both have healthy baby's that is all we are praying for at this point, I am sure we'll both get to the point of "Okay, ready to have this baby".

Nursery Update

Here are a few pictures of some new things in the nursery. I think in May it will really take shape. I'll have my tests done by May 2nd if all goes as planned and we all know it always does. Then I'll have a whole month to get things put together and organized for the little gal. Daddy is helping here, he is great at these things.

6th Doctors Appointment

We had our 6th appointment on this past Monday after a great lunch - new mexican food!!! Believe it or not Dan and I shared a combo plate, I don't have to eat a ton, just because I can justify it right now. So the updates on us...I have gained 19 pounds, measuring normal, my hemoglobin's are low, 12 and normal is 12-16 so I am taking extra iron now, but she didn't think it was anything to worry about. We got to see her again!! We had an ultra sound, she was confirmed a girl again, Dan feels better about that. We had both gotten a bit concerned because we sure got a lot of pink stuff on Sat. and if it is a boy, he might not be too happy about pink. She waved at us even with her sweet little hand. We didn't really get to see her fingers or toes last time, so we got the whole show this time. Her heart beat was about 130 bpm and the doctor said everything looks good.

Dan and I did go to our Birthing Class last Sat. It was very informative and Dan said he learned a lot. It was from 9-4, so a lot of information in one day, but I think we'll do just fine. I just pray she is as close to a normal delivery as possible, I am sure everyone prays that. I'll have a good coach by my side for this miracle so all will be just fine!!

I start going every two weeks to the doctor now, so I'll have another up date before long. We also have some fun things planned this month, so we'll take lots of pictures and keep the posts coming!! Happy Spring everyone, I am ready for warmer weather and a little less wind and I guess some spring showers too!!

Mountain Shower of Blessings

On Sat. March 28th, we had a joint baby shower with Julie, Molly Hunter Smith, and I. All the hostess did such a great job, we were all sooo blessed to have had that many people come and to be that showered by wonderful gifts. Thank you all for coming and thank you for all the wonderful things our little babies get to enjoy!! I think we are all ready to meet the little ones.

I wish I had more pictures, but this one will have to do for now. I didn't take a single picture, but we had two wonderful photographers, thanks to Tonya and Traci, taking pictures of everyone. This one is from our family friend Brenda Ross, thank you! We also had another wonderful lady video taping, thank you Sally Altrock for getting it on film.

To list a few of the terrific gifts we got:

Gwen, Dan's mom, also known now as Granny or Grammy (we are still deciding) made the dress I wore, she did such a splendid job, I love my new black and white dress, it was actually warm enough that day to wear it, I was so thankful!! She also made Kacie a shopping cart cover, complete with toys and chandelier material, she will sit like a queen in it when we are shopping I am sure!! Thank you Granny Gwen!

Amy, Dan's sister, AKA now as Cool Aunt Amy did some great art work for the nursery, I have 4 originals now for Kacie's room of Audrey Hepburn, so classic, can't wait for her to see them, thank you Cool Aunt Amy!!!

My mom, AKA now as Granny (still deciding that too, they can't both be Granny, that will get confusing) made a bib and burp cloth set out of pink camo, at least Dan gets some camo!!! Thank you Granny Susan!!!

Julie, my sister, AKA as Aunt Julie (I'll have to ask her if she has a special name), gave Kacie her first cow-girl belt and cow-girl jeans, we'll have to wait to wear them, but maybe we'll pose for a picture before they really fit, gotta try them on every now and then. Thank you Aunt Julie for my first Bling-Bling!!!

We were all so blessed and had such a great time, thank you so much for everything. We can't wait for you to meet our little ones!!!

Hughes' Visit

Dan's mom, dad and sister, Amy, all got to come down this last weekend for a whole 3 days!! It was such a blessing to have them in our house and just to visit and eat and shop with them. They got in late Friday night and stayed through Monday afternoon. I had a joint shower on Sat. which I'll fill in next, but then Sunday we went to church and then us girls went shopping in town, didn't buy anything, but enjoyed our time wondering around together. The boys went down the hill to get some Local pistachios for Lyn and then were going to fly the airplane but it was too windy. Gotta love this spring wind. Afterwards, Amy and Dan went on a 4-wheeler ride up in the hills. Oh, and Lyn went on his first 4-wheeler ride in the mountains with Dan on Sat. for a few hours, I think Dan did him in. It was complete with a flat tire half way through the ride so Dan had to go back to the house to get the bike pump to fix the tire for Lyn's 4-wheeler. Can't have a good first 4-wheeler outing without something happening, it just doesn't make for a good story. I think they all had a good time. Amy and Dan got some more hot tub time in, I'll post a picture for the last visit. I am a bit jealous when the go sit in the hot tub, that sounds so good right now, but all in good time!! Only 9 more weeks, depending on Kacie's schedule. :) Thank you for visiting us Hughes family, we look forward to the next time!!! Love you bunches!
Oh, one more thing, the Amy & Dan 4-wheeler trip was almost uneventful until they returned to the gate....Tucker got up on Dan's 4w and wanted to ride on it, but Dan didn't see that Amy had stopped right in front of him and so they collided slightly, Amy's back left tire and Dan's right front tire and Tucker went flying, guess his ride was over. They all survived without any scratches, so it made for a funny story later. Which I had pictures of that.

Doctor Visit #5

Last night we went to our 5th Doctors appointment. All is well. It was a crazy busy appointment, but got the same information in just about 1/4 of the time it usually takes. I had to do some things at the hospital and then go to the doctors appointment and then back to the hospital for blood drawing in exactly 60 minutes, so we got that done. Dan's mom and sister came down for the visit just in case I had another ultrasound, thought they might enjoy that, but then we just listened to the heart beat. Her heart rate is 144bpm and I have gained 2 more pounds for a total of 14, so I guess all is good. I saw the NP this time and she said "sounds like you are having a boy, are you having a boy?" I said actually we are having a "girl" so gotta love those seeds of doubt planted by people that may or may not know. Now I really want another ultrasound, but I guess I'll just have to trust the Lord in that we are going to have which ever gender he wants us to have and it already is what it is and we'll just have to see when we deliver. I am just glad to hear the heart is beating great, we are measuring normal and all else seems perfect.

Dan and I got to feel the baby move last Friday night for the first time really. She was punching and kicking so much that is startled me and I had Dan come over to feel it. It was like nothing I had ever experienced. That has to be the best part of pregnancy, feeling the baby move. She was active yesterday at lunch and on the way to Ruidoso, but didn't behave for Amy or Gwen, so maybe next time.

We did get to go to a nice dinner last night at Casa Blanca. Great Mexican food and great company, we all ate too much!!! We had a great day and were so thankful that Gwen and Amy were able to come down and experience some of these great things with us!!!
